Use the search box to search the library's information resources. To limit your search to journals, articles etc., press Filter, select one of the options and enter your search terms.
Articles: Your search is limited to articles from journals. From your search results you can further drill down the results by using the facets in the left menu such as peer-review and online availability.
E-books and printed books: This option retrieves e-books and printed books only.
Printed books: Limits your results to printed books. From the search results you can filter your search to include books available at either one of our three libraries.
Journals: Use this option if you are looking for a specific journal. The majority of our journals are available online. You can narrow your search results by using the facets in the left menu.
If you prefer to search for journal titles in an alphabetically sorted list, please use the Journals A-Z.

Databases: Enter words from the database title or subject area. Use English terms. Please note that databases often cover large areas and the search terms therefore need to be broad, for example Physics.
In the Database search you may browse by name, subject areas or type of content.
Chalmers publications: Use this filter to locate dissertations or articles written by researchers at Chalmers. Your search will be forwarded to research.chalmers.se.
Studentarbeten.chalmers.se: Choose this filter to search for Chalmers student theses.

ScienceDirect - confusing login page
At the moment there is a login page in ScienceDirect where you are expected to choose between two different accounts. You must select the first, otherwise you will not be able to access our ScienceDirect subscriptions. If you happen to select the wrong one, fix it by opening another web browser (or a new session in same browser).
We're sorry for the problem. The login page should not be there at all, and will be removed soon.
The public can acquire a library card at Chalmers Library. You can use the card at the Main Library, the Architecture and Civil Engineering Library and at Kuggen. To get a library card, visit one of our libraries. Please bring personal identification.

Borrow and Renewal
To borrow printed books you need to bring your library card. You have a guaranteed loan period of 14 days, but can keep an item for up to 90 days if nobody else reserves the book. If another patron reserves the book after 14 days you will receive an email asking you to return it as soon as possible.
You can return the book to any of our three libraries. After hours you can use our book returns, that are available at all our locations.
You can renew your loans twice à 30 days via your library account. For additional renewals, please bring the books and visit any of our information desks.
Use the library catalogue to reserve books. You will be notified by email when the book is ready for pickup. The book will remain on the pickup shelf for a week.
Interlibrary loans can be picked up at the information desk.
E-book user agreements vary depending on supplier.
Students and employees can
- Borrow books.
- Book group study rooms.
- Access e-resources off-campus via Chalmers VPN (Virtual Private Network) or login with your Chalmers ID (CID).
- Borrow lockers, whiteboard pens, ear phones, scanners, usb memory sticks etc.
- Use the library's computers, login with your Chalmers ID (CID).
When you graduate or terminate your employment at Chalmers you will no longer have off-campus access to the e-resources.
Non-Chalmers affiliated patrons
You are welcome to borrow books and to make photocopies from our print journals. Please visit the library to receive a Library Card.
With the card you may also login to the public computers at any of Chalmers three libraries and from these use most of the e-resources for non-commercial purposes. Only Chalmers affiliated patrons can access the wireless network.
Please note, that only Chalmers affiliated patrons have access to the printers and can book group study rooms. Public patrons and/or students at University of Gothenburg do not have off-campus access to e-resources.
