Create a library account
In order to borrow and request printed material at Chalmers library you need a library account. The library account is valid at all Chalmers libraries.
For those with Chalmers ID (CID)
When you create a library account, you can use the account directly for example to request books. You borrow in the self-checkout machines at our libraries by entering your personal identity number and PIN code - no library card is needed.
For those who do not have Chalmers ID
Everyone is welcome to create a library account, even if you are not studying at Chalmers. When registering, select "General public" and follow the instructions. The first time you come to the library to borrow, we need to see your personal identification card.
Forgot your PIN code to your library account?
You can reset your PIN code here.
Access to e-resources
You can access the library's e-resources if you are connected to Chalmers and have a Chalmers ID. Read more on Access to e-resources.
Logging in to your library account
You will find a link to your library account, "My Account", in the upper right corner of the library catalogue. Here you can renew your loans and see and remove your requests.
There is a quick guide on how to renew your loans here.
You need to authorize that EBSCO, our library service provider, is allowed to save your personal data.
Borrowing, loan periods & requesting
You have a guaranteed loan period of 14 days on most books, but can keep a book for up to 90 days if nobody else requests it. If another patron requests the book after 14 days you will receive an email asking you to return it as soon as possible.
Loans can be renewed one time for 90 days.
If the due date is two weeks from today or earlier, there’s a queue for the book and it cannot be renewed.
Note that some material has shorter borrowing time.
If the due date is three months from today, only the first two weeks are guaranteed. After that, if someone requests the book you must return it on short notice. If that happens, you will receive an e-mail with an updated due date.
You may return the book at any of our libraries. After hours you can use the book drops, available at the Main Library and Kuggen entrances.
Use the library catalogue to request books. You will be notified by email when the book is ready for pickup. The book will remain on the pickup shelf for a week.
If we do not have what you are looking for, please request the book or article. Interlibrary loans can be picked up at the information desk.
