Library opening hours

During weekdays, staff and students of Chalmers can access library premises even outside of staffed hours. At Chalmers Learning Commons, Kuggen, GU-students can access library premises outside staffed hours. Use your pass card or student union card in the card reader by the entrance doors to access the building during unstaffed hours.

See below for the specific hours for each library. 

Main Library

Regular opening hours

Monday-Friday 9-20

Unstaffed opening hours - access with pass card

Monday-Friday 7-9 and 20-22

Saturday-Sunday 7-22

During unstaffed opening hours, the reading room, entrance halls, and computer hall will be open, while the rest of the library will be closed.

Architecture and Civil Engineering (ACE)

Weekdays 7-10 and 16-22

When the library is unstaffed it is possible to:

  • Return books using the machine. At Kuggen you return your books in the book drop by the entrance doors.
  • Read newspapers, use the wifi, computers and printers.
  • Use the group rooms.
  • Use the library space for reading and studying.
  • At the Main Library you can even collect and borrow your reserved books from the reserved books shelf. They are sorted according to your first name.

Wellbeing rules

  • It is important that you make sure that the door is locked behind you when you leave.
  • Show consideration for other visitors.
  • If something should break, stop working, or if there is something else that the staff should be made aware of, please leave a note at the information desk or send us an email.

At closing time

When the doors are locked on weekdays, a security guard from Cubsec will go around the premises to check that everyone there has a valid pass card. It is important that you carry your card with you or that you can show your student union card, for example in the Mecenat app.

The security guard will go around the premises again at 22 to make sure that everybody has left the building.
