Publicerad Friday, October 24, 2025

Congratulations to Wouter Vlemmings, Theo Khouri, Behzad Bojnordi Arbab, Elvire De Beck, and Matthias Maercker from the Department of Space, Earth and Environment (SEE), who have been awarded Chalmers Library’s Open Access Award 2025. Their article in Nature, “One month convection timescale on the surface of a giant evolved star” holds the highest Altmetric Attention Score of all publications in Chalmers Research database.

The award recognises contributions that promote open access to research and is presented annually in connection with the international Open Access Week.

The winning article has achieved remarkable visibility, with an Altmetric Attention Score of 706, indicating significant international interest. According to the researchers, this attention reflects the public’s fascination with the universe and the fundamental research questions explored in their study.

They emphasise that open access is essential for making scientific results available to both researchers and the general public, helping to bridge the gap between science and society. The team also highlights the importance of universities actively supporting open platforms such as ArXiv.

This year’s Open Access Week takes place on 20–26 October under the theme Who owns our knowledge?, which explores issues of ownership, access, and the sharing of knowledge in today’s society.
